Clemson University Reading Recovery® Training Center was selected as a Finalist for the Riley Institute's Dick and Tunky Riley Education Award. The winner received a $10,000 grant from BB&T to enhance the program in South Carolina.
When reading just doesn't come easy. Reading Recovery teachers help first-grade students in one-on-one lessons to learn to read and write on grade level.
During the last two years, we have all become accustomed to doing a lot with a little. Having our budgets cut and being short-staffed have forced us to use our time and money wisely. However, one program in Clemson’s Eugene T. Moore School of Education has been ﬁscally responsible without sacriﬁcing program delivery or effectiveness. The Reading Recovery® University Training Center (UTC) accomplished all of this by increasing its use of technology.
He read books and talked to the Reading Recovery® students about all they could learn by reading and all they could accomplish if they really tried.
